I SAW IT ON THE DRUDGE REPORT (Part IV) March 16, 2008

This article deviates somewhat from the typical Drudge Report wackiness that I post in favor of something a bit cooler. Microsoft founder Bill Gates recently talked to the Northern Virginia Technology Council about how awesome computers are going to become in the near future. In his discussion about speech technology and touch screens it’s easy to see how keyboards and mouses may become fazed out in the coming decades in favor of voice-activated touch screens that everyone carries around. Gates says that he sees no reason why innovation will slow down considering the academic and corporate nature of the research.

He also makes another great point about why we need to ease our immigration controls on those people who come from all over the world to study in the US. Since we have the best colleges and universities in the world in only makes since that we keep as much of their product as we can in America so we can reap the greatest possible benefits from our stellar higher education system.

I completely agree with Gates on the immigration business. We educate all these people and they then go home which is good for those countries but a waste of the resources we put into them.
